What Most Moves Cost

Every mobile home move is quoted individually, because the home, the route and both sites are different every time. As a guide, here’s where common moves usually fall within our $2,000 to $15,000 range:

Lower end

Short, simple moves

A single-wide moving locally, with easy access at both sites and standard setup.

Middle

Longer or larger moves

A single-wide going across the state, or a double-wide moving locally with a split, rejoin and full setup.

Upper end

Multi-section and long-distance

Double-wides and triple-wides going long distances or out of state, with several permits, escorts and a full installation.

Modular homes are quoted case by case, because foundation, crane and engineering work vary so much from one home to the next.

What Every Quote Includes

Our quotes cover the whole job, so the price you approve is the price of the move. A complete quote from us includes:

  • Teardown: removing skirting, steps and porch attachments, disconnecting the home and releasing anchors.
  • Permits: oversize transport permits for every state on the route.
  • Escorts: pilot cars or police escorts where the permit requires them.
  • Transport: trucks, drivers, running gear and the planned route.
  • Splitting and rejoining for double-wide and larger homes.
  • Setup: blocking, leveling, anchoring, joining sections, reconnecting the home to utilities at the pad and reinstalling skirting.

What Changes the Price

Factor Why it matters
Home size and sections Each extra section adds a truck, a permit and setup time.
Width Wider homes need more permits and are more likely to need escorts.
Distance and route More miles, more states and longer routes around low bridges or restricted roads.
State travel rules Daylight-only travel, weekend and holiday limits and seasonal road restrictions can stretch a move over more days.
Site access Tight parks, steep drives, trees and soft ground take more time and equipment.
Condition of the home Older homes may need repairs or new running gear before they can travel.
Setup scope New anchors, skirting, steps and finish work at the new site.

Costs Outside the Move

A few costs usually aren’t part of a moving quote, so plan for them separately:

  • Utility runs to the pad: bringing water, sewer or power to a new lot is usually done by a local plumber or electrician.
  • Pad or foundation work the county requires before the home arrives.
  • Park fees for moving in or out.
  • County taxes owed before a moving permit or tax clearance can be issued.
  • Repairs found during teardown, which we’ll always discuss with you first.

How to Get an Exact Price

  1. Tell us about your move through our quote form: home size, where it is, where it’s going and your preferred date.
  2. We review the route and both sites, and may ask for photos.
  3. You get a written quote listing teardown, permits, escorts, transport and setup. It’s free, with no obligation.

Comparing quotes? Line each one up against the list above. A low quote that leaves out permits, escorts or setup usually costs more in the end. Our guide to transport companies vs. local haulers explains what to look for.

Ways to Lower the Cost

  • Book four to eight weeks ahead so permits and dates line up.
  • Have the new site ready before moving day so the crew doesn’t wait.
  • Pay any county taxes early so tax paperwork doesn’t delay the move.
  • Keep moving and setup with one company instead of hiring two.

Our mobile home moving cost guide covers every price factor in more detail, and our permits page explains the paperwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to move a single-wide?

Single-wides usually sit toward the lower part of our $2,000 to $15,000 range, especially for local moves with simple setup. Long distances and extra permits move the price up.

How much does it cost to move a double-wide?

Double-wides usually land in the middle to upper part of the range, because they travel as two loads and must be split, sealed and rejoined.

Do your prices include setup?

Yes. Our quotes include teardown, permits, escorts, transport and setup by our own crews.

Is the quote free?

Yes. Every quote is free, with no obligation.

Do you move homes out of state?

Yes. We get permits for every state on the route and set the home up to the rules where it lands. See our locations.
