Double-wide moving
Double-Wide Mobile Home Movers
We move double-wide and multi-section homes: separating the sections, hauling both halves, and rejoining and setting up the home at the new site.
Double-Wide Moves Done Right
A double-wide is two sections on the road and one home on the lot. Moving it means separating the sections, sealing each open side, hauling each half on its own truck and joining them back together at the new site.
That’s where most problems start: a poor seal, a rough rejoin or a home that isn’t level along the marriage line. Our crews handle the split, transport and rejoin, so one team is responsible for the result.

What’s Included
Planning
We review both sections, the route and both sites, and plan where each half will be staged.
Separation
We remove skirting and trim, disconnect the crossovers, unbolt the sections and seal each open side.
Permits and escorts
Each section is its own oversize load. We get permits for both and arrange any escorts they require.
Two-truck transport
Each half moves on its own truck on a route planned for the home’s width and the state’s travel rules.
Rejoining
We set both halves on the pad, pull them together along the marriage line, bolt and seal them and reconnect crossovers.
Setup
We level, block and anchor the home, close up the roof and floor seams, and reinstall skirting and steps.
How a Double-Wide Move Works
- Request a quote. Send the home’s size, where it is, where it’s going and your preferred date through our quote form.
- We plan the move. We check access for two trucks at both sites and plan the route.
- Paperwork. We apply for permits for both sections. You handle owner paperwork, such as county tax forms or park approval.
- Teardown and transport. We split, seal and load both halves, then haul them to the new site.
- Rejoin and setup. We rejoin the sections, level and anchor the home and get it ready for utility hookups and inspection.
Double-Wide Moving Cost
Most of our moves cost $2,000 to $15,000. Double-wides usually land in the middle to upper part of that range, because they travel as two loads and need a split, seal and rejoin. Distance, route and setup work decide the exact price. See our pricing page for what every quote includes.
How to Get Your Double-Wide Ready
- Pack and secure loose items, especially near the marriage line.
- Ask the utility companies to disconnect service before moving day.
- Make sure both sites have room for two trucks and a clear path in and out.
- Have the new pad or foundation ready and sized for both sections.
Our double-wide transport guide explains each step in more detail.
Licensed Movers and Installers
Our own crews have moved and set up homes since 2012. We’re licensed, bonded and insured, and we hold state installer licenses in many of the states we serve, plus a HUD manufactured home installer license for states that follow HUD’s program. Read how to choose a licensed mobile home mover.
We move double-wides and other multi-section homes across the country. See where we work on our locations page.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to move a double-wide mobile home?
Most of our moves cost $2,000 to $15,000. Double-wides usually fall in the middle to upper part of that range because they travel as two loads and must be split and rejoined.
Can a double-wide be moved without taking it apart?
No. A double-wide is too wide to travel in one piece, so the two sections are separated, moved on two trucks and joined again at the new site.
Will my double-wide be damaged in the move?
Any move carries some risk, which is why careful sealing, a good rejoin and a level setup matter. If our crew finds a problem during teardown, we’ll talk it through with you before going further.
How long does a double-wide move take?
Teardown, transport and setup usually take a few days for a local move. Permits and planning often take a few weeks, so contact us four to eight weeks ahead.
Do you move triple-wides?
Yes, we move multi-section homes. Ask for a quote and we’ll review your home and both sites.
