Know the rules
Wisconsin Rules for Moving a Mobile Home
Four Wisconsin requirements shape every move. Here’s what they are and who handles each one.
Licensed installer required
Under Wis. Stat. § 101.96, no one may act as a manufactured home installer in Wisconsin unless they’re licensed or employ a licensed installer. Owners setting up a home on their own property for personal use are exempt. We hold that license.
Third-party inspection
The same law has the state set installation standards and require installations to be inspected by third-party inspectors licensed by the state. We set your home up to pass that inspection.
Tell your municipal treasurer
If your home pays Wisconsin’s monthly municipal permit fee, the Department of Revenue’s guide says the fee stops the month after the home leaves the taxation district, and owners who claimed the lottery credit must notify the municipal treasurer. Let your treasurer know before moving day.
Oversize and local permits
Most homes travel under an oversize permit, and many towns, villages and counties require a permit before a home is placed. We arrange the transport permits and tell you what your local office usually asks for.
Plan around the seasons
Wisconsin’s Seasonal Road Restrictions
From December 1 to May 1, WisDOT’s seasonal weight restriction programs can change which roads a heavy load can use. We check them for your route before we set a date.
Frozen road declaration
Usually mid-December to late February or early March, when the ground is solidly frozen. It affects weight limits on many roads.
Class II roads
Usually early March until the first or second week of May. Weight limits on these roads protect them during the thaw.
Springtime posted roads
Usually the second week of March until late April or early May. Counties and townships post their own local roads too.

Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Move a Mobile Home in Wisconsin?
Most of our moves cost between $2,000 and $15,000. In Wisconsin, these make the biggest difference:
- Home size: double- and triple-wides need more trucks and a split and rejoin.
- Distance: across the county costs less than Kenosha to the Northwoods, or out of state.
- Permits and escorts: wider homes and longer routes need more of both.
- Season: winter and spring road limits can change the route or the date.
- Site and setup: wooded or lake lots, frozen ground, and the full setup scope.
