Know the rules
Oregon Rules for Moving a Mobile Home
Four Oregon requirements shape every move. Here’s what they are and who handles each one.
Trip permit from the assessor
Under ORS 446.631, a manufactured home can’t move to a new site unless the state approves it and the county assessor issues a trip permit. The current year’s taxes and any delinquent assessments generally have to be paid first. Under OAR 918-550-0600, the permit covers one move, names the owner and transporter, and expires after 30 days or when the county tax certification does.
Licensed installer
Under ORS 446.395, an individual must hold a state installer license before installing a manufactured dwelling, and no one may hire an unlicensed person to do it. We hold that license.
ODOT over-dimension permits
Homes travel under an ODOT over-dimension permit. Oregon doesn’t allow a home section with a base width over 16 feet, and routes that need county approval can take longer. We arrange the permits and approvals.
Local placement permits
Some counties, including Benton, Clackamas, Lane and Linn, require building or land use permits before a home can be delivered. Check with your county early. We’ll tell you what they usually ask for.

Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Move a Mobile Home in Oregon?
Most of our moves cost between $2,000 and $15,000. For an Oregon move, the price mostly depends on:
- Home size: double- and triple-wides need more trucks and a split and rejoin.
- Distance: across the county costs less than Portland to Medford, or out of state.
- Permits and escorts: ODOT and county permits, and escorts for wider homes.
- Site access: tight parks around Portland, wet ground in winter, or mountain passes to Central Oregon.
- Setup scope: blocking, leveling, anchoring, utilities and skirting.

FAQ
Oregon Mobile Home Moving FAQs
Do I need a permit to move a mobile home in Oregon?
Yes. You need a trip permit issued by your county assessor, which generally requires the current taxes to be paid. The home also travels under an ODOT over-dimension permit, and some counties need building or land use permits at the new site. We handle the ODOT permits.
What is a trip permit?
It’s the state’s approval to move a manufactured home to a new site, issued by the county assessor. It covers one move, names the owner and the transporter, and expires after 30 days or when the county tax certification does, whichever comes first.
Who can install a manufactured home in Oregon?
Only an individual with a state manufactured dwelling installer license, and no one may hire an unlicensed person to do the work. Our crew holds that license.
How wide a home can be moved in Oregon?
Oregon doesn’t allow a home section with a base width over 16 feet. Eaves are measured on top of that. Wider homes are moved in sections and rejoined at the new site.
How much does it cost to move a mobile home in Oregon?
Most of our moves cost $2,000 to $15,000. The price depends on home size, distance, permits and escorts, site access and how much setup you need. Your quote is free.
How long does it take to move a mobile home in Oregon?
Most single-wides move within a day once the trip permit and ODOT permits are ready. Double-wides take longer because the sections are split, moved and rejoined. Setup usually adds a few days.
Can you move my home into or out of Oregon?
Yes. We move homes between Oregon and Washington, Idaho, California, Nevada and beyond. Leaving Oregon starts with the county trip permit, and we get the permits for every state on the route.
Do you transport manufactured homes bought in Oregon?
Yes. If you’ve bought a home that has to be moved, we can pick it up, transport it and set it up at your site. Remember the trip permit, which names the owner and the transporter.
