Know the rules

Oklahoma Rules for Moving a Mobile Home

Four Oklahoma requirements shape every move. Here’s what they are and who handles each one.

Taxes paid before the move

Under OAC 710:10-9-17, the county treasurer collects the home’s current-year estimate, any delinquent or omitted taxes and special assessments, then signs OTC Form 936 as the receipt. It’s required before a move within the county, to another county or out of state.

Transport permit for licensed haulers

The same rule says the Department of Public Safety only issues manufactured home transport permits to dealer or in-transit tag holders, and only with proof that registration fees and excise taxes are paid. That’s why the owner can’t pull it. We do.

Licensed installer and label

Under OAC 765:37-5-2, a licensed installer places a label with their name, license number and installation date on every home they set up, on or near the breaker box or beside the HUD label. Our installers are licensed.

Escorts and route limits

Under OAC 730:50-5-19, homes 12 to 14 feet wide need a front escort on two-lane roads and a rear escort on multi-lane highways. Wider homes need front and rear escorts on two-lane roads. Homes over 14 feet can’t use turnpikes, and homes over 18 feet can’t use interstates.

Who Does What in an Oklahoma Move

In Oklahoma, the county tax receipt comes first. Here’s the split.

Pay the home’s current and past-due taxes with the county treasurer.

2. Tax receipt

Get the signed OTC Form 936 receipt and pass it to us.

3. We get the permit

The DPS transport permit and escorts for the route.

4. Licensed setup

Our licensed installers set the home and place the installer label.
