Kansas Rules for Moving a Mobile Home
Four Kansas requirements shape every move. Here’s what they are and who handles each one.
Licensed installer
Under K.S.A. 58-4219, anyone installing a manufactured home in Kansas since July 1, 2006 must hold a state installer’s license or work under a licensed installer. Licensees complete training, pass an exam, carry at least $100,000 in liability insurance and show two years of experience. Our installers are licensed.
State installation standards
The Kansas Housing Resources Corporation sets Kansas’s installation standards and handles installer licensing and disputes. The same law requires a licensed installer to be present as needed to make sure the home is installed to those standards.
KDOT permit and travel
Under K.A.R. 36-1-36, oversize loads move in daylight only, but they can move every day of the year, including weekends and holidays. Manufactured homes need an oversize sign on the rear of the home and flags at the widest points.
Escorts and wind
The same rule requires escorts for loads over 14 feet wide, front and rear on highways with fewer than four lanes. And because Kansas is windy, manufactured home moves must stop when sustained ground winds top 30 miles per hour.

Who Does What in a Kansas Move
In Kansas, the permit, the escorts and the weather drive the schedule. Here’s the split.
1. Confirm the site
Make sure the park or county allows the home. We’ll check size and access.
2. Local approvals
Check whether your city or county needs a permit at the new site. We’ll confirm before move day.
3. We get the permit
The KDOT oversize permit, escorts and a daylight move with safe winds.
4. Licensed setup
Our licensed installers set the home to Kansas standards.
