Know the rules
Nebraska Rules for Moving a Mobile Home
Four Nebraska requirements shape every move. Here’s what they are and who handles each one.
HUD-licensed installer
Nebraska is one of the states where HUD administers installation, so installers need a HUD manufactured home installer license under 24 CFR Part 3286. We hold that license.
NDOT manufactured housing permits
Under Nebraska’s oversize permit rules, homes travel under a manufactured housing permit, with separate types for new and pre-owned homes. Loads over 12 feet wide must have escort vehicles. We get the permit and book the escorts.
Daylight and weather limits
The same rules limit permitted moves to 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. No moving when winds are over 25 mph, visibility is under half a mile, it’s raining or snowing, or roads are slick with ice, snow or frost. We watch the forecast and keep a backup day.
Local placement permits
Many cities and counties require a permit before a home is placed. Check with your local building or zoning office early, and tell your county assessor about the move. We’ll tell you what they usually ask for.
Nebraska paperwork
Who Does What in a Nebraska Move
Most of the paperwork in a Nebraska move is ours. Here’s the split.
1. Title and taxes
Have your title ready and check with your county treasurer about any taxes due.
2. Local placement permit
Check what your city or county needs at the new site. We’ll tell you what to ask.
3. We get the road permits
The NDOT manufactured housing permit and escorts for wider homes.
4. Licensed setup
Our HUD-licensed installer sets the home and certifies the installation.

Pricing
How Much Does It Cost to Move a Mobile Home in Nebraska?

- Distance: across the county costs less than Omaha to Scottsbluff, or out of state.
- Permits and escorts: NDOT and local permits, and escorts for homes over 12 feet wide.

FAQ
Nebraska Mobile Home Moving FAQs

Who can install a manufactured home in Nebraska?
Nebraska is a HUD-administered installation state, so installers need a HUD manufactured home installer license. Our crew holds that license.
When can mobile homes be moved on Nebraska roads?
From 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. Moves are off when winds are over 25 mph, visibility is under half a mile, it’s raining or snowing, or roads are slick.
How much does it cost to move a mobile home in Nebraska?
Most of our moves cost $2,000 to $15,000. The price depends on home size, distance, permits and escorts, site access and how much setup you need. Your quote is free.
Do you move mobile homes in Omaha and Lincoln?
Yes. We move homes across the Omaha metro and Lincoln, between the two, and to anywhere in Nebraska or out of state.
I bought a used mobile home in Nebraska. Can you move it?
Yes. Used homes bought to be moved are a big part of what we do. We’ll check the home, quote the move and set it up at your site.

Most single-wides move within a day once permits are ready and the weather cooperates. Double-wides take longer because the sections are split, moved and rejoined. Setup usually adds a few days.
Can you move my home into or out of Nebraska?
Yes. We move homes between Nebraska and Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota and beyond, and we get the permits for every state on the route.
