Know the rules
Kentucky Rules for Moving a Mobile Home
Four Kentucky requirements shape every move. Here’s what they are and who handles each one.
Certified installer
Under 815 KAR 25:060, Kentucky installers are certified by the state after a 15-hour course, an exam, supervised experience and at least $250,000 in liability coverage. Our installers hold that certification.
Two-part installer seal
The same regulation requires a certified installer seal on every home, bought from the state. One part goes above the HUD label and one inside the electrical panel, and the installer reports each installation monthly.
Used-home inspection
According to Kentucky county clerks, a previously owned home that’s been moved must be inspected by the state or a certified retailer before it can be titled or have its utilities turned on. We schedule it so your power isn’t held up.
KYTC permit, escorts and curfews
Under 601 KAR 1:018, loads over 8½ feet wide need a permit. Over 12 feet, two-lane routes need lead and trail escorts, and four-lane routes need a trail escort (plus a lead escort over 14 feet). No wide moves in a wind advisory, or at rush hour in Louisville, Lexington and Northern Kentucky counties.
Kentucky paperwork
Who Does What in a Kentucky Move
In Kentucky, the certified installer carries most of the paperwork. Here’s the split.
1. Title and site
Have the home’s Kentucky title ready and confirm the new site allows it. We’ll check size and access.
2. Local approvals
Check whether your city or county needs a permit at the new site. We’ll confirm before move day.
3. We get the permit
The KYTC overdimensional permit and escorts, timed around curfews and wind.
4. Certified setup
Our certified installers set the home, place the state seal and line up the inspection.

- Permits and escorts: KYTC permits and escorts for homes over 12 feet wide.
- Site access: hills and hollows in the east, narrow roads and tight parks.
