Know the rules

New Hampshire Rules for Moving a Mobile Home

Four New Hampshire requirements shape every move. Here’s what they are and who handles each one.

Taxes paid before the move

Under RSA 80:2-a, before a home taxed as real estate is moved, the owner needs a receipted tax bill or a certificate from the tax collector or selectmen showing taxes are paid. The owner gives it to the mover, who carries it during the move. Skipping this is a misdemeanor.

NHDOT permit and travel days

Under NHDOT rule Tra 304.13, manufactured homes can be up to 16 feet wide. Homes up to 14 feet wide move Monday to Friday, and homes wider than 14 feet only Tuesday to Thursday. No weekends, and holidays can suspend moves.

Escorts for wide homes

The same rule requires one non-police escort for loads 12 feet wide or more, and two State Police escorts for loads wider than 14 feet. We book them.

Licensed installer and inspection

Under RSA 205-D:7, no one may install a manufactured home without a state installer license. The local building inspector then checks the installation before occupancy. Our installers are licensed.

Pricing

How Much Does It Cost to Move a Mobile Home in New Hampshire?

Most of our moves cost between $2,000 and $15,000. For a New Hampshire move, the price mostly depends on:

  • Home size: double- and triple-wides need more trucks and a split and rejoin.
  • Distance: across town costs less than Nashua to the North Country, or out of state.
  • Permits and escorts: the NHDOT permit, plus escorts and State Police for wider homes.
  • Site access: narrow roads, hills, frost and winter conditions.
  • Setup scope: blocking, leveling, anchoring, utilities and skirting.
